we the media? Part 1

what is news? i thing every thing is interesting is news, and it tall people what happening at the first time. In Mitchell Stephens book 'A History of news' definite news is:“New information about a subject of some public interest that is shared with some portion of the public” (Stephens pg4) The most important of news is how fast the message can be sent to the audience--News is a time-dependent phenomenon and there are great rewards for being able to deliver a news story first. The medium of news can be newspaper, TV, radio or Internet. Ant the Internet become the most fast medium to deliver the news, for example, more and more people search the day news from BBC websites or Google, they can get the most fast news form there; also the news agencies updated their information at the first time on their own website such as the UK;s environment which has a website that update every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day.( lecture 5)

The body, the mind and the computer: ALife, AI, Cyborgs ets.

what is life? life depends on many chemical and physical processes. The human life build up with the molecules of DNA. But within the computers technology developing, the human natural life become artificial life, which the machines are used and our resent and future!

what is Cyborgs? it is define" Robots, computers, and humans (some, at least) merge into cyborgs" In late 1950s, the world's first cuborg was a white lab rat that was part animal and pat machine. Now the cyborg is creatived tend to as a human, and they are cteatived to copy what human do! In one side, the artifical life give people's life more and more convenient and machine also hlpe people doing lots of work. but when one day, the robots and cyborgs can substitite human and they can do anyting the human doing; then does the world still need us?

The new and old media!

Basic on the frist lecture, the 'media' have been defined as being synonymous with television, radio and newspapers etc. but within the technolog developing, the computer being invented, which bring the 'new media' into people's social life such as internet, and the anther media become 'old'. From the video 'prometeus' shows, we can see how the media revolutiion using technolog to renew 'old media'. This new technologies are being used to create the new media for communicatins, more and more people research new, informations, and entertainment from internet. Also the 'new media' become most wild and fast medium in people's life.

But the new media we talking about now will become old soon and later, as we know from the lecture notice" All media identified as new are electric (unlike newspapers). However, not all electric media (e.g. 19th Century Telegraph) are now regarded as new media." . Within the new new media invent in the future, the internet will becomeing old, and the 'new media' also becoming 'old media'.

the diary of my fist blog

-----it's my fist time to create a blog! I had created my own space using MSN. It's same as a blog, but that still a very new thing for me. This blog page maybe look very simple now, but i will make it becoming more interesting soon!

-----from last week, i know what will we learn from this module, and what is mean 'media'and 'cyberculture', also we will look at relationship between media and cybercuture. Media have been defined as being synonymous with television, radio and newspapers etc, but within the computer being invented, the 'new media' become more and more important in people's social life such as internet. Cyberculture is the culture that from the use of computers for communication, entertainment and business, which focuse on the societal and techonlogy. And from following weeks, we will study about what is new media, and the realtionship between 'media' and 'cyberculture'
